Premium Domains

Every domain registry can set aside a portion of domains that it designates as premium. It can then sell these domains to interested parties at a higher price than the standard registration fee. For truly attractive domains, this can be thousands of times higher.

In some cases, premium domains are blocked and auctioned off in bulk on large auction portals, where the highest bid wins. In these cases, the registries often aim to raise awareness of the domain (auctions are frequently discussed in advance within communities) and to reach a larger number of domain investors at once.

A registry can also designate any unregistered domain as premium. Likewise, for example, if an attractive domain expires, the registry can mark it as premium after it is deleted and sell it at a higher price.

How is the price of a premium domain determined?

Prices are set by the registry itself and can vary greatly from one extension to another. Some simply assign a price to individual domains, while others divide them into categories and then assign prices to those categories.

Does the higher price also apply to renewals?

The higher price may or may not also apply to the renewal of the domain. If you want to buy a premium domain, we strongly recommend reading the terms and conditions and finding all the necessary information from the domain registry.

Does VEDOS offer premium domains?

At present we do not offer them, and we do not plan to. For everything to work correctly, we would have to incorporate the concept of premium domains into our system, which is almost completely automated. On top of that, most premium domains are English words, so there is not much demand for them here. Of course, if we encountered greater demand from our customers, we would start to address it.

Domains that are premium are marked by our system as “blocked”.

Is it possible to transfer premium domains to VEDOS?

Unfortunately not. With the transfer of premium domains, the situation is similar to that of registration.
